Fall Colour in Gatineau Park & Beyond - Sept. 21st to October 12th, 2012
In late September and early October, the foliage in Gatineau Park shifts through a kaleidoscopic range of colour, providing a spectacular opportunity for creative photography. In the forest canopy, fading summer colours give way to brilliant red, orange and yellow hues. While in the Park’s open fields, late summer wildflowers linger among grasses and ferns, creating an exciting visual tapestry with myriad shades of yellow, gold and brown.
This workshop, spread over three weeks, is designed to improve participant’s abilities to create compelling and evocative photographs. Participants will be encouraged to develop and practice skills that will help them successfully express their own creative vision.
This course includes the following four components:
• Illustrated lectures that focus on principals of visual design and
composition, as well as practical photographic knowledge and
techniques used to create successful imagery;
• Shooting assignments designed to promote the learning of specific
concepts and techniques;
• Field trips where participants will receive both group and individual
instruction;
• Extensive review and critique of each participant’s work.
Course Itinerary, Registration & Fees:
• Lecture and critique sessions will take place at David’s home in Chelsea, Quebec on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, Sept. 19th, Sept 26th, Oct. 3rd, and Oct 10th.
• Field trips will take place on Saturday mornings beginning at dawn on Sept 22nd, Sept 29th and Oct. 6th.
The fee for this course is $295 plus taxes.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom & Camera Raw - November 17th & 18th 2012
Would you like to learn how to organize your photographic collection so that images are easily viewable and searchable by topic, location, date or keyword? Would you like to learn how to process raw files so as to maximize the image quality that your camera can capture? If so, then this Lightroom and Camera Raw workshop may be for you.
Lightroom is an Adobe Systems software application designed specifically for photographers. Since it’s introduction in 2006, it has dramatically changed the way photographers organize and process their digital images. In this two day workshop we will examine how Lightroom works and what it can do for you.
Topics we will cover, in depth, include:
• How to organize your images into a searchable database;
• How to processing of raw files, and other image files, in the Lightroom Develop module;
• How to apply images adjustments and enhancements that were once done in Photoshop but can now be done, in many cases more easily and quickly, directly in Lightroom;
• Preparing images for printing or for the web;
• Creating slide shows and web galleries in Lightroom.

• This workshop will take place at David’s home in Chelsea, Quebec on Saturday November 17th from 10:00am to 4:30pm and on Sunday November 18th from Noon until 4:30pm.

Basic Digital Photography - May 1st to June 19th, 2012
This course is offered through the Algonquin College Centre for Continuing and Online Learning. It provides an introduction to basic photographic techniques and digital technologies. Topics covered include, understanding exposure, composition, electronic flash, portraiture, and an introduction to studio lighting. This course runs Tuesday & Thursday evening for seven weeks.

Landscape & Natural History Photography - May 23rd to June 13th, 2012
This course is offered through the Algonquin College Centre for Continuing and Online Learning. It is an intensive course designed to improve participant’s abilities to create compelling and evocative photographs of natural landscapes, flora and fauna. Through illustrated lectures, participants will study principals of composition and visual design as well as practical camera techniques employed in landscape, wildlife, and close-up or macro photography. All participants will be encouraged to take part in an intensive critique of photographs taken throughout the course. This course includes Monday evening classroom sessions and Saturday morning field trips. Class size is limited to allow for individual instruction in the field.
